The Earth is what we all have in common. Less Plastic, More Life
Sustainability in Football
Sustainability has been a key focus for Alliance Football Club, and becoming a member of the Girls’ Football Club means that you will also embrace our sustainability strategy and outlook. We have developed a number of policies to outline our commitments to becoming the Middle East’s very first eco-friendly football club – and we want our players to know that sustainability in sports really is possible!
We want to enrich our members to become Earth-Loving Footballers; to educate and create a deep understanding of the importance of being at one with Mother Earth, even if it is through small, simple, yet significant steps. As individuals, we must take care of the very earth that we play our beloved game on, and at Alliance Football Club, we recognise that environmentally-friendly practices require the attention and cooperation of every member of society.
Alliance Football Club consistently encourages players to reduce, reuse, and recycle, and to take on the responsibility of other environmental basics that can have a great impact on the planet, in the long run.
A FOOTBALL CLUB THAT CUTS DOWN ON PLASTIC
Here are some of the ways in which we endeavour to be the Middle East’s first eco-friendly football club:
The Alliance Bottle
Alliance players save around 80,000 plastic bottles every season by using their stainless-steel water bottles. No plastic bottles are allowed on any of Alliance’s football pitches, this applies to players and coaches. The stainless-steel bottles are environmentally-friendly, and they keep the water colder for much longer, and they save money – there are an abundance of benefits to switching from plastic to steel.
Fast facts about plastic bottle pollution:
73% of beach litter worldwide is plastic.
A million plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute.
Plastic is killing more than 1.1 million seabirds and animals every year.
Plastic bottles require up to 700 years to dissolve.
90% of the cost of bottled water is the bottle itself.
80% of plastic bottles never get recycled.
24,000,000 litres of oil is needed to produce these billions of plastic bottles.
Bottling water and shipping transport is the least energy efficient method of water supply in the history of mankind.

The Alliance Tote Bag
We pride ourselves in being an eco-friendly football club. By working together as a team, we can reach incredible milestones in order to do our part to save the environment we live in. Over the past few years, we have mainly led our eco-friendly campaign with discouraging the consumption and wastage of single use plastic bottles. Instead, players are encouraged to use their Alliance Football Club stainless steel bottles. This alone may seem like a small gesture; however, it has a phenomenal impact. Alliance players save approximately 80,000 plastic bottles per season from entering the environment simply by using their Alliance stainless steel bottles – a small step that is essentially a huge leap on the road to becoming the Middle East’s first eco-friendly football club.
With the great success we have had so far, we would like to take our eco-friendly campaign to the next level. Therefore, we are introducing the Alliance Canvas Bag. This is a multipurpose bag that can be used for shopping, sports, the beach, and quite literally anything else you can think of. Instead of using a plastic bag, opt to use the Alliance Canvas Bag. We will provide each Alliance member’s family with a complimentary Alliance Canvas Bag. Please feel free to approach us and receive yours!
